If you really value your anonymity and want to make your email or whatever, that’s fine, just know that you’re going to have to wait a bit for me to get around to approving your comment.

Please note that I value the integrity of this site more than I value your feelings, so if I feel that you’re being abusive, trolling, or spamming, I will ban you. If you’re not sure that a comment is appropriate, don’t post it.

Privacy policy

I totally respect your online privacy, and I’m fully committed to safeguarding your online privacy while you’re here at

How I use your email address

I occasionally email members things I think might be useful (e.g. links to important resources on the site). If you’d rather not receive these emails, each one email contains an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

If you subscribe to multiple email lists (e.g. you sign up to receive new blog posts in your email, and also new Essays posted to the Essay Guide Owners Area), you have to unsubscribe from each list individually when you want to stop receiving them.

I will never, ever, ever sell your email address to anyone else.

Usage Statistics

I use Google Analytics to track the usage of this site. Stats collected include: Internet Protocol addresses (IP addresses), browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement in the aggregate, and to gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc., are not linked to personally identifiable information.

I also use AddThis to track usage of this site. AddThis is responsible for the share buttons at the bottom of each post, and tries to track how often people link their friends to my site. Again, no personally identifiable information is collected. You can read AddThis’s privacy statement here.
