Sure, use substitution (well, the transitive property of inequality, instead of how we usually use the transitive property of equality).

Note that both inequalities have 2x in them, (and that none of the answer choices do). Do a teeny bit of rearranging to get 2x by itself in the first inequality:

y>2x-1\\y+1>2x

Now you have y+1>2x and 2x>5. That means it must be true that y+1>5, which we simplify to y>4 to match the format of the answer choices.
