On pg. 96 question 11 I’m confused with how you came up with your answer even with the explanation. What am I supposed to do there?

With a “nested” function like this, you have to work from the inside out. First, as always, figure out what r is by referring to the graph.

Now that we know r=5, work from the inside out of the nested function. That means first figure out the f(5) part of f(f(5)). Back to the graph!

OK, so f(5)=-5. That means the expression we’re solving for now simplifies: f(f(5))=f(-5).

Back to the graph one more time for that!

And there you have it, f(-5)=2. Putting all the steps together:

f(f(r))\\=f(f(5))\\=f(-5)\\=2
