I picked B but that is the wrong answer. I was unable to reason out why any other choice would be better. It would be tremendously helpful if you explained.

I’m afraid I don’t have much of an explanation for this one—choice E is just a construction you need to have seen often enough to recognize as correct. (There probably is a rule, of course, but I don’t know how to verbalize it.)
